Ytd i was watching some youtube video, and stumbled upon an Q&A session by Michelle Phan at Beautyboundasia.
A competition started by her or SK-II if im not wrong. Yesterday they announced the winner from Thailand that lives in the UK. But what Phan said during the Q&A is worth paying attention to.
In terms of makeup selection and opportunities, Asia is Far behind the american/ western part of the world. Urban Decay only came into Asia in the past 2/3 years, through sephora sg. But people on the other side of the world, have UD for 14 years already, can you imagine? Brands like Mac/ UD or MUFE has very strong makeup vibes on the darker side. Whereas we in Asia prefer more Korean/Japanese style in general. Gravitating towards the natural side of makeup.

Remember this look i did some days ago? I was literally being stared and got all those judgemental looks from the moment i step on the bus or Mrt. But you know what i did. I just ignored their stares and plug in my headphones. I got so used to all these people staring and looking, esp when I'm out in town. Just like me and my umbrella, being judged by Mr J.
Went i went to do some banking errands at UOB, all the staff stared at me in wide eyes, like I'm some monster walking in and talking to them. Hahahha. Trust me, those judgmental stares were affecting me a little. but its okay. After i left the bank and walk on the streets, everything felt abit better.
For instance, only recently pastel / loud coloured hair became a trend, same for lip and eye colours.
Partly because Singapore don't have seasons like Fall and Winter in other countries, dark Vampy colours will never be in trend. Whenever I walk past a Mac Cosmetics store, comment like will say "they face draw until like that, so scary" will be heard. Well some times it is the case, but that is the culture in MAC. And that is something really rare in the makeup industry in Asia.
Not that I'm asking you to pile makeup on like crazy. But to actually go ahead and try different looks, out of your comfort zone. But must maintain okay. Don't go crazy like Halloween everyday. For example the trend of Liquid lipsticks, the hype is real man. Since the point when ABH launch their liquid lipsticks, every other brand like Colour Pop and Dose of colours, now Jeffree star ( launch in beautylish) is bringing is Dark purple, dark Grey lipsticks etc.
Gerard Cosmetics also launch their Hydra Matte liquid lipsticks months ago, and they finally recently offer a code for worldwide shipping. So i grab. #typical those are the most affordable USA brand that i can reach out to. Stila is also coming out with some during the holiday collection, you guys can go sephora to see!
But following the instincts of the Asian in me, i only ordered the safer colours. Nude pink and red. Will swatch for you all when it arrives. But actually this liquid lipstick thing is not new to me, i already had some in my collection since last year i bought some in the UK.

The matte one by Sephora and Apocalips by Rimmel London. Very similar shades cause my skin is so yellow, I can't pull off very cool colours etc. Will be reviewing the Stila Liquid Lipstick very soon!
Thanks for Reading!
