Continued from Part One!
So after the western outfit has been selected.
we move on to the traditional outfit that we are both most excited about. http://www.wattention.com/know-your-kimono-1-different-types-of-kimono/
The link above provides a simple explanation of the various tier of kimonos available.
Kimono Selection - 色打卦 和服
The sheer amount of selection they had was pretty impressive. and Cause they were very exquisite and expensive. They started out giving me a catalogue of Ofurisode (super long sleeves for unmarried woman) to choose from, then pull out the outermost layer (Uchikake) to try on my existing dress.
I shall let the photos to do the talking.
This is the catalogue they showed me. The selection was extensive and very eye opening for me.

Photo as above, actual product as below.
Every piece is treated with delicate care as they are all handmade pieces, to be treated with respect as well.

So the procedure was the same as previously, look at photos, shortlist 3-4 pieces I fancy.
And we can try on one by one. Just the outer piece, to be placed outside of the current dress I was wearing.
Like putting on a jacket, but this was alot heavier. ALOT heavier.

She described this piece as the most youthful looking piece.

This piece was very popular as it features the sakura and spring season on the garment.

Actually I proceeded with every step very cautiously, to be nice, friendly and I was very receptive, in fact eager to receive their professional opinion. So after much deliberation, both the Studio staff and me had the same thought in mind. This is the one i chose, as the colour red complements my skintone the best. And when i asked for her opinion, the lady who dressed me also choose this for me.

Red base, with hint of Green, with flowers and that impressive crane embroidery (now i know why the logo of JAL is the crane). woah everything done to perfection. Below is a picture attached , close up of the beautiful fabric. TBH the photo doesn't even do it justice, its sooooo gorgeous IRL. * gushing over everything Japanese*

The accessories that comes with the outfit were so delicate and pretty, every single thing was to be handled by a professional with white gloves.

Male Version of the traditional Japanese outfit
J had very dark skin. so we choose a white outfit for him instead of a black one.
he did say. " why ladies have an entire book to choose from but men only have like 3-4 to choose from. haix so unfair. " LOL much this man.

Anws the 4 hours flew by and it was time to go for food (lunch cause we have not eaten), and I took a picture with the ladies that rendered help for me on that day. And i know that in their culture they don't accept tips, we bought yummy custard cakes for them to enjoy. :)

Next Blogpost Part 3 will be up very soon! Featuring the AD of shooting, the entire experience etc.
Love,
Wing
